Partnering with Wasteline

Published on 2026-05-26

Two tools. One pipeline.

Wasteline is one of the best open source tools for detecting cloud cost waste. It scans your AWS environment and produces a ranked list of findings — unattached volumes, idle instances, old snapshots, forgotten load balancers — ordered by monthly savings impact.

It is very good at what it does.

What it does not do is execute the fix.

That is where mutova comes in.

How the integration works

When you run Wasteline, it produces a structured output of findings. mutova consumes that output directly and converts each finding into a Mission — an executable operational change enriched with ownership, risk classification, and execution strategy.

From there, mutova handles the rest:

  • Verifies the resource is still in the expected state
  • Resolves the owner and requests authorization
  • Executes through Direct SDK or opens an IaC pull request
  • Records the full audit trail

Wasteline finds the waste. mutova executes the fix.

Why this matters

Most teams running Wasteline have experienced the same friction: the report is generated, shared in Slack, and then slowly deprioritized. The findings are real, the savings are real, but turning them into closed tickets takes organizational effort that rarely happens consistently.

The mutova + Wasteline pipeline closes that gap. Findings move from detection to governed execution without falling through the cracks.

We are working closely with the Wasteline team to deepen this integration. If you are already using Wasteline and want to operationalize your findings, request early access.
